2018 Tuition Discounting Study
The 2018 NACUBO Tuition Discounting Study, supported by EAB, was released on May 9, 2019. The TDS measures institutional tuition discount rates and other indicators of institutional grant awards to first-time, full-time freshmen and all undergraduates who attend private, nonprofit (independent) colleges and universities.The report includes data from 405 private nonprofit colleges and universities that were members of NACUBO as of September 2018. A press release with highlights of the survey data, a NACUBO-in-Brief podcast, and new Infographics that illustrate the impact of tuition discounting on student recipients and institutional finances are now available.
The report is available at no cost to all staff at participating institutions, and for purchase to other NACUBO members and nonmembers. Purchase price is $200 for NACUBO members and $750 for nonmembers.
How to Access the Study
Survey participants may access the 2018 Tuition Discounting Study for no charge through NACUBO's Online Research Portal with the steps below:

- Use your institutional e-mail address and NACUBO membership password to log in
- On the next page, select NACUBO Research Studies link from the menu
- Click Access Online Research link
- Select 2018 NACUBO Tuition Discounting Study from the list
2019 Tuition Discounting Study
The annual NACUBO Tuition Discounting Study (TDS) measures the tuition discount rates and other indicators of institutional grant awards to first-time, full-time freshmen and all undergraduates who attend private, nonprofit (independent) colleges and universities.
Data collection for the 2019 NACUBO Tuition Discounting Study (TDS) will begin in October. Previews of the 2018 TDS survey instrument and Help Text/Frequently Asked Questions are now available. Please contact the NACUBO research team for more information about the 2019 TDS.
Benchmarking Tool Update
