John McLaughlin - Senior Managing Director - Gallagher Higher Education Practice John is responsible for leading Gallagher’s Global Higher Education Practice which provides Property & Casualty, Employee Benefits, Student Health and Accident and Risk Management Consulting services to over 1,400 higher education institutions worldwide.
Background: John brings over 40 years of insurance brokerage experience, 37 with the Gallagher organization, to the task of addressing the risk management challenges faced by higher education. For the past 23 years he has focused his attention on developing insurance and risk management solutions for colleges and universities. Before assuming his current role, John led the risk management department in Gallagher’s Denver office and was Area President of Gallagher’s Public and Non-Profit Division. Affiliations: John served on the Board of the University Risk Management and Insurance Association and is a long standing member of United Educator’s Broker Advisory Council. He is an active participant and speaker at numerous education conferences including URMIA, RIMS and AGB. He has been recognized four times by Risk and Insurance Magazine as an education “Power Broker.” John serves on the Board of HFS Chicago Scholars a nonprofit that support education opportunities for academically advanced under privileged students.
Specialties: John has been instrumental in the development of proprietary insurance programs, captives and group purchasing solutions for college and university clients. He works with Insureds to conduct in-depth risk assessments and coverage reviews, provides claims advocacy assistance on complicate liability claims and helps support Gallagher’s market relationships with insurers specializing in higher education risks.
