Updated October 7, 2013: At the end of September, the White House distributed a “Health Insurance Marketplace Outreach and Enrollment Toolkit for Colleges, Universities, and Community Colleges”. The Toolkit, designed for the higher education community, provides information about the Marketplace, FAQs, and additional resources for students, staff and faculty, and community members.

On September 13 and September 16, the White House and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will offer two, one-hour conference calls, led by senior officials who will discuss the new Health Insurance Marketplace and how colleges and universities can help inform students, staff, and others about their options.

This discussion will focus solely on the Health Insurance Marketplace and is not intended to cover issues related to student health insurance policies offered by institutions or employer-based health coverage. This outreach effort is intended to shed light on the options available to students who are not covered on a parent's health insurance policy or campus-offered student policy and to other faculty and staff who may not be on an employer plan.

During the discussion, administration officials will provide information and resources to help qualified individuals make informed decisions about their new health care coverage options. The scheduled calls are off the record and not for press purposes. These calls are designed to:

  • Educate campus administrators about the Marketplace health care choices and benefits.
  • Provide examples of how institutions can educate and engage others.
  • Offer an opportunity for participants to ask questions of HHS.

If you are interested in participating in one of these calls, please RSVP using the links below.

Friday, September 13th at 1:00 p.m. ET:
Monday, September 16th at 3:00 p.m. ET:

Once you register, a confirmation page will display dial-in numbers and a unique PIN. You will also receive an email confirmation with the same information. One hour before the call, the Administration will send accompanying visual aids to those who have registered.

Business officers are encouraged to share this notice with human resource and student affairs administrations, as well as others at the institution who may be interested.
