Food   Encouraging the use of local foods may empower and educate students, faculty and administration on the importance of being aware of food production. Using local foods will also stimulate the regional economy. Evaluation can be in use of local foods, dining waste, trayless dining, vegetarian and vegan options, trans-fats, pre-consumer food, waste composting, post-consumer food waste composting, food donation and recycled content products.

The Food Recovery Network is one of first  free videos for NACUBO members noted below as part of the "Win Win - Expanding Financial Leadership" series.  Since this video  was published  the amount of campuses involved in the program  has grown by 200%; benefiting waste recovery (costs) at a campus, enriching the lives of those in the community AND creating leadership and organizational skills amoung students participating. 

As of 2018, Food Recovery Network has now expanded to over 230 sites nationwide. Check out their website if the program can be applied to your campus.

EXPANDING FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP SERIES:

In the web series Expanding Financial Leadership: Facilities, Energy Efficiency and Sustainability there are now five  30-minute videos that will inform participants on how to expand their knowledge base to create a conceptual facilities framework that can impact their campuses for years to come.   Food Recovery is one of those videos.
