Mr. West has over four decades of experience in higher ed finance and administration at five institutions, spanning community colleges to large research institutions. His roles have grown and evolved from financial analyst, project leader, controller, director, associate vice president, and vice president. He has had key assignments as team leader, systems designer, project sponsor, change agent, and chair of various committees – including policy administration. He recently retired as Vice President for Finance and Administration/CFO at Salt Lake Community College.

Mr. West is a long-time contributor to WACUBO professional development courses, having taught their accounting workshops for several years. He was the main developer and instructor for WACUBO’s workshop for Academic and Unit Business Officers. He also remains on the faculty for their annual Business Management Institute in Santa Barbara. Mr. West has also been actively involved with NACUBO – serving twice on their Accounting Principles Council, acting as Chair of their Higher Education Accounting Forum program committee for three years, and teaching at several forums and workshops. He has contributed to “Business Officer” magazine, and to various other NACUBO publications. He received NACUBO’s Professional Development Award for 2009 and their Daniel D. Robinson (accounting and reporting) Award for 2017. Mr. West received his B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Utah State University, and is a Certified Public Accountant. He and his wife Julie are parents to four children and twelve grandchildren.
