Michael McFarland, Ed.D., director of athletics and associate professor at Bloomsburg University, is in his tenth year leading the Huskies athletic department and also serves as the Chair of the Department of Athletics Faculty. He guides the BU athletic department, which features 21 NCAA Division II sports and one NCAA Division I program. The veteran athletic administrator has served on the NCAA Field Hockey National Committee (as National Chair in 2019-2021), as a member of multiple NCAA Regional Advisory Committees, on the Board of Directors for Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2ADA), and serves as a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Advisory Committee, after a stint on the Executive Committee. Academically, McFarland serves as the General Education Co-Curricular Administrator, was a member of the General Education Council (GEC), is the Curriculum Committee Chair for non-academic proposals, and was the Co-Chair for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Standard I Sub-Working Group. His research interests reside in student-athlete alcohol consumption, fundraising, and concussion injuries. He serves as a researcher with the Bloomsburg University Institute for Concussion Research and Services and as a member of the research team for the CARE Consortium, along with securing funding through the NCAA Choices Grant.
