Don Aungst is an experienced chief financial and administrative officer who has the background and experience to lead a team of professionals to meet any challenge. He is a well-respected professional who knows the business of higher education.

His skillset allows him to efficiently review the status of your current strategic plan and deliver an actionable report with next steps to creating a sustainable future for your institution.

Don brings expertise in mergers, acquisitions and business combinations. He is very excited about joining the Higher Ed Consolidation Solutions (HCS) team which bring extensive additional expertise. He recent business combination transaction involved Mercy College’s combination with the College of New Rochelle, which ceased offering educational services in August 2019 but will retain its history and legacy a result of the transaction. His strengths also include turning around financially distressed institutions.

Don has an ability to find savings and efficiencies where challenges exist and the need is great. He can also serve as, or source, an interim chief business officer or financial officer. He has served as CFO/CBO at several colleges and universities over the years and has experience with turnarounds and institutions with multiple campuses, centers, and delivery modalities, including international locations.

His most recent experience includes serving as vice president and chief financial and planning officer for 14 years at Mercy College and Upper Iowa University. He had direct involvement and leadership over long range financial modeling and planning, resource allocations for large budgets, as well as cash and investment, real estate, risk management, facilities, HR, IT, and auxiliary services management.

Don served on the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) Board of Directors while serving as the President of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers (EACUBO).
