Lorraine Arvin is an experienced chief financial officer and organizational leader providing consulting services to higher education, nonprofit, and other institutions. Arvin brings to NACUBO Consulting her expertise in aligning financial strategies and resources with goals, operationalizing strategic plans, developing long-term financial plans, optimizing administrative services, managing enterprise risks, and improving board governance processes.

Previously, Arvin was vice president and treasurer for Reed College. In addition to serving as the chief financial officer, she oversaw endowment investments, facilities, human resources, risk management, legal, institutional research, environmental health, and safety and auxiliary operations. She led many initiatives for the college including institutionalizing robust long-range financial planning and risk management programs and the design and construction of new facilities.

Prior to her work at Reed College, she was the associate vice president for finance and administration and treasurer of the University of Chicago. She began her career at KPMG and became a partner in the firm’s educational and other nonprofit institutions practice and the insurance practice.

She has served as a member of the board of directors for many organizations and is currently a member of the Oregon Investment Council which oversees the investment and allocation of all Oregon State trust funds.

Arvin received a BS in accountancy from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a MEd in administration from Loyola University Chicago, and a PhD in education from Loyola University Chicago.
