TCU’s Brian Gutierrez on Time, Emotional Intelligence, and the Legacy of the CBO

Brian Gutierrez has served as vice chancellor for finance and administration for Texas Christian University for over a decade. Like most CBOs, his responsibilities range from contracts, to risk, to audit management, all the way to the bookstore operations. What makes Gutierrez unique is his approach to working with his people. He espouses the critical importance of developing emotional intelligence, and he uses his own experience to listen more attentively, to sense the unspoken challenges his team faces, and to communicate in a language of balance with those around him.

This week on the show, we offer a fascinating conversation that illuminates ways to communicate how we feel about our projects, work, and challenges, and how a seasoned CBO uses these observations to motivate and inspire.
