NLRB Regional Ruling Finds Basketball Players are Employees
On February 5, Region 01 of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) decided that student athletes on the Darthmouth College men’s basketball team qualify as employees and are eligible to unionize.

Department of Education Allocates $50 Million to FAFSA Assistance
The Department of Education will provide direct funding for technical assistance and support as well as tools to help colleges efficiently process student records and deliver financial aid packages. 


NCAN Research Quantifies Student-Facing FAFSA Challenges
The National College Attainment Network’s (NCAN) latest FAFSA tracker, last updated on January 26, found that only 16.3% of the high school class of 2024 has submitted a FAFSA, a 56.6% decrease compared to academic year 2023. With decreases of more than 60%, FAFSA completion among students at low-income and high-minority high schools has been especially affected. NCAN’s analysis, along with a supplemental news story contextualizing their findings, further highlights the issues caused by the delayed 2024-25 FAFSA release.
