NACUBO Requests Extension of Overtime Proposal Comment Period
In response to the Department of Labor’s notice of proposed rulemaking to increase the Fair Labor Standards Act’s annual salary-level threshold for overtime pay, 107 organizations, including NACUBO, have requested an additional 60 days to allow for sufficient time to analyze and respond to the proposal.
NACUBO Supports Credit Card Competition Act
NACUBO, in partnership with the American Council on Education (ACE) and two other higher education associations, wrote to Sen. Richard Durbin (D-IL) in support of the Credit Card Competition Act of 2023 (CCCA), which he is sponsoring. The CCCA would foster competition in the credit card market and would protect students, families, and the higher education institutions that serve them by reducing excessive credit card transaction fees.
Associations Call on Congress to Remove Research Requirements from NDAA
In a higher education community letter led by ACE, NACUBO and 21 other associations wrote to leaders of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees to offer comments on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Congress must pass the annual legislation in order to authorize funding levels for the military and other national defense priorities. The letter raises specific concerns with two elements of the legislation: that institutions would be required to disclose personal information on a public website for Department of Defense (DOD) funded researchers, and that research funded by DOD would require an institutional cost share of at least 25%.
