Agency Action

ED Proposes New Rules on Gainful Employment, Financial Responsibility
The Department of Education is again focusing on gainful employment and financial responsibility, with strict proposed rules issued on May 19. Through the proposal, ED aims to promote financial transparency and prohibit access to federal financial aid for programs that result in unaffordable debt or comparatively low earnings. The proposal, which NACUBO is currently analyzing and will comment on, includes proposed changes to financial responsibility rules and disclosure requirements.

New Webpage Houses Section 117 Information
ED's Office of Federal Student Aid created a Section 117 Foreign Gift and Contract Reporting webpage, which serves as a repository for all information, guidance, and training related to the required Section 117 foreign gift and contract reporting.

New Resource on Federal Energy Efficiency Incentives Launched
The Department of Energy has launched a new Funding and Incentives Resource Hub, which enables users to identify tax credits and obtain financial and technical assistance for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other sustainability initiatives, including those available under the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
