ED Announces Fall Reporting Schedule
8/14/2003
The Department of Education requires all institutions participating in the Title IV federal student assistance programs to file eight separate reports electronically as part of the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) during the academic year, as well as separate campus crime reports and data on athletics, as required by the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA). Noncompliance with these reporting requirements can result in significant fines.
ED's Fall 2003 data collection schedule is as follows:
Campus crime statistics | Data collection begins | August 18 |
Deadline for completion | mid-October
IPEDS | Collection opens | September 10 |
Deadline for completion | October 22
EADA statistics | Data collection begins | September 15 |
Deadline for completion | October 30 |
ED is sending letters to institutions with specific instructions on completing the crime and athletics reports. Reminder: A campus version of "Megan's Law" took effect last fall, adding another disclosure requirement to the list of the annual security reports that colleges and universities are required to distribute by October 1.
