Speakers
This session will examine alternative investments, including the process of gathering and analyzing the required information, the impact on UBTI and Form 990-T, and the relationship with foreign informational filings and other reporting.

The Inflation Reduction Act made many of the clean energy tax credits refundable for certain tax-exempt and government entities. This session will provide an overview of these credits, the types of investments they incentivize, and how colleges and universities can best identify and operationalize these new opportunities. Panelists will highlight the credits most-commonly applicable to higher education institutions—such as geothermal and solar energy, EVs, and Cogen property—and will explain eligibility and timing requirements. They will also share their institution’s perspective and experience navigating the credit process.
