Overview

Economic Sustainability Leadership
Endowment spending policy dictates the annual flow of funds from an institution’s endowment to support donor designations and campus operations. During both the great recession and the COVID-19 pandemic, some colleges increased their endowment spending amid significant financial challenges.

Even before the onset of COVID-19, many institutions had begun to reconsider their spending rate. During this session, endowment and investment experts will look at data from the 2020 NACUBO-TIAA Study of Endowments to examine recent trends in endowment spending rates and policies, highlight pressures and trends, and discuss important considerations for new spending strategies.
