DoD Tuition Assistance Program
Through the DoD Tuition Assistance (DoD TA) program, the Department of Defense (DoD) offers financial aid to active duty service members and their families participating in voluntary education (VolEd) programs. Only schools that have submitted a Voluntary Education Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) can participate. Educational institutions must resubmit a signed MOU each time the DoD changes its policies governing TA.
The most recent change to DoD policy requires that public colleges and universities offer in-state tuition rates to active members of the armed forces and their dependents. Moreover, if the student maintains steady enrollment, the school must continue to offer the participant in-state tuition even if he or she moves out of state.
