Future Endowment Study Participation

Print Version

If your institution participated in the 2007 NES and is a regular member of NACUBO, you will receive an e-mail from TIAA-CREF with your username/access code in early August, 2008.  If your institution would like to participate for the first time, or if you have experienced a staff change at your institution, please follow the instructions below:

Your institution can participate in the 2008 NACUBO Endowment Study by sending an e-mail with the following information to the NES Help Desk:

  1. Institution name
  2. Name of your institution's survey contact
  3. Title
  4. Mailing address (street, city, state, and zip)
  5. Telephone number
  6. Fax number
  7. E-mail address

At the beginning of each survey collection period, you will receive a unique username and access code to access the online survey.

Criteria for Participation

There are only two criteria:

  • Your institution must be a regular member of NACUBO. Learn more.
  • Your institution's endowment must be at least $1.0 million.

General Reporting Guidelines

Full survey instructions are provided on the survey web site.  Below are overall guidelines to keep in mind when preparing for the survey:

  • Aggregate the data for both the university and the foundation(s) and report as one institution if possible. If your institution maintains more than one investment pool, please report data from the pool that most accurately reflects your institution’s investment philosophy.
  • Please report your data on a June 30 basis, regardless of the fiscal year end date of your institution.
  • Dollar amounts are reported to the nearest thousand (e.g., report $2,211,842 as $2,212). Round percentages (including investment returns) to the nearest one hundredth of one percent (e.g., 10.071% as 10.07%).
