Campus Safety and Security Project Sponsorship Program

Print Version

In light of incidents ranging from natural disasters to acts of violence that have impacted the nations campuses in recent years, NACUBO and other organizations saw the need to help higher education develop more comprehensive plans for dealing with emergencies. The result was the Campus Safety and Security Project, which was launched in February, 2008.

Colleges and universities face wide ranging risks to human, physical, and cyber assets. This project addresses topics such as tornadoes, terrorist attacks, and technological intrusions. The goal is to provide higher education administrators with the tools to create effective plans to protect people and facilities that are at risk.

Partnering Associations:

  • American College Personnel Association (ACPA)
  • APPA
  • Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB)
  • EDUCAUSE
  • International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA)
  • National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA)
  • National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO)
  • University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA)

The effort has been endorsed by the American Council on Education and five other key presidential associations.

Companies are invited to join this project as valued sponsors. Support is recognized in various ways through the many products and events being planned to support the project:
1) A survey of a cross section of colleges and universities to identify the current state of campus safety and security and emergency preparedness plans.
2) A self assessment instrument that allows all higher education institutions to review their current security processes and identify strengths and weaknesses in the areas of public safety, physical security, cyber security, emergency preparedness, threat assessment, and vulnerability remediation.
3) Site visits to college campuses that bring perspectives from a variety of areas including campus police and public safety, legal affairs, student services, academic affairs, information technology and university relations.
4) A symposium that bring together campus representatives and experts in the areas of campus safety and security, homeland security, emergency communications, legal affairs, student counseling, and health services, academic affairs and campus operations.

Sponsorships are available at the Platinum, Gold and Silver levels, with benefits depending on the level of support. Download the Sponsorship Matrix of Benefits.
