Percentage of Students Receiving Financial Aid Rises

About 71 percent of undergraduates received financial aid in 2011-12, compared with 66 percent in 2007-08, according to the initial results of the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS). The average amount of aid received increased from $9,100 to $10,800 in this time period.

President Obama Outlines College Affordability Plan

President Obama’s college affordability plan includes a proposal to develop a new college rating system, which he is asking Congress to tie to the allocation of federal student aid.
