Final Rules Issued on the Violence Against Women ActFinal Rules Issued on the Violence Against Women Act
The Department of Education published final rules implementing the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2013. The rules, which go into effect on July 1, are intended to help institutions more effectively address and prevent incidents of dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

FASB Gives Go-Ahead for Exposure Draft on NFP Reporting

At its October 8 meeting, the Financial Accounting Standards Board approved the drafting of a proposed Accounting Standards Update for not-for-profit financial reporting. An exposure draft for public comment is expected in the first quarter of 2015. In addition, the Board revised previous decisions in the areas of capital-like transactions and board designated transfers.

CDC Advises Colleges, Universities and Students about Ebola

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has provided advice and information for higher education institutions and students about Ebola. The web resource outlines current travel restrictions, provides recommendations for student health centers in addressing students and faculty arriving from countries with current Ebola outbreaks, and offers resources for educating and safeguarding campus populations. 

Key Facilities Metrics Survey Deadline December 15

Institutions have until December 15 to participate in the NACUBO and APPA Key Facilities Metrics survey. The joint survey will help leaders establish an internal trend line for a better understanding of how their facilities stack up on key financial and environmental benchmarking measures.
