Advisory Report 2015-1 provides model language for institutions to include in their financial responsibility agreements with students. NACUBO recommends that colleges and universities use these agreements to ensure students understand and affirm their financial obligations and set parameters for internal and external collection efforts.

Obama Announces Student Aid Bill of Rights

President Obama recently issued a memorandum directing a number of federal agencies to work together to provide stronger protections for student borrowers. The reforms include an online complaint system, pilot programs to improve communication, and an examination of possible statutory and regulatory changes.

FASB Drafting Proposal on NFP Reporting

The Financial Accounting Standards Board plans to release by mid-April an Exposure Draft of the proposed Accounting Standards Update, “Presentation of Financial Statements of Not-for-Profit Entities.” Numerous changes to the current NFP model are anticipated.

Electronic Payments Continue Growth Trend, 2014 Benchmarking Report Finds

Students are making payments to institutions via online channels more than ever before, outpacing manual payment methods for the first time, according to the newly released 2014 NACUBO Student Financial Services Benchmarking Report.
