ED Proposes New Rules for Distance Education and Foreign Locations

The Department of Education has once again proposed rules on state authorization of colleges that offer distance learning to students across state lines, as well as for branch campuses or additional locations in other countries. Comments on the proposal are due August 24.

Senate Bill Would Increase Bank-Qualified Debt Limit

Senate lawmakers recently introduced legislation that would permanently raise the issuer limit on bank-qualified bonds from $10 million to $30 million.

New Releases from the NACUBO Economic Models Project

Two new white papers from NACUBO’s higher education economic models project are now available. In What is the Current State of Economic Sustainability of Higher Education in the United States, and How Did We Get Here? NACUBO’s Jacalyn A. Askin and Bob Shea review the history and evolution of economic models. Possible Futures for Higher Education’s Economic Model expands upon the past to examine changes already occurring on campuses today. Both publications are offered at no cost on the NACUBO Economic Models Project web page.

New Statistics on College Enrollment and Completion Released

More than 27 million students were enrolled in degree or certificate programs in academic year 2014-15, preliminary data from the National Center for Education Statistics show.
