In a recent letter to institutions, the Department of Education reiterates that colleges and universities are required to comply with provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and encourages schools to adopt additional standards.

ED Makes Two Student Loan-Related Announcements

Interest rates on new federal Direct Loans disbursed through June 30, 2017, will decrease a 0.5 percentage point from the rates last year, the Department of Education recently announced. In other ED news, the department unveiled its new Federal Student Aid Feedback System, through which users can provide insight into their "schools' administration of federal student aid programs, including possible misrepresentation of facts about a school or its recruitment and marketing practices," ED notes.
