Just-released data show U.S. college and university endowments and affiliated foundations returned just 2.4 percent (net of investment fees) in FY15, a stark reversal from the 15.5 percent return realized in FY14, according to the 2015 NACUBO-Commonfund Study of Endowments (NCSE). Despite the lower return, more than three-quarters of NCSE participants increased spending from their endowments.

NACUBO Urges One-Year Postponement of Changes to 1098-T Reporting Requirements

In a January 21 letter to the Internal Revenue Service, NACUBO President and CEO John Walda urged the IRS to postpone for one year the effective date of the recently enacted provision that, for most institutions, requires changing the way they process and report information on Form 1098-T.
