Overview
This workshop is essential for those new to the long form methodology or for those who need to understand more about sponsored research cost accounting. The Facilities and Administrative Rates workshop provides an overview of cost accounting per OMB Circular A-21. Participants also learn the fundamentals of cost pools, how to allocate facilities and administrative (indirect) costs required by OMB Circular A-21, proposal preparation, rate negotiation, and audit considerations.
Topics include base cost development, department administrative expenses, operation and maintenance costs, fringe benefits, space, depreciation, libraries, service and recharge centers, cost sharing, unallowable costs, direct costs, and regulatory updates. This program allows attendees time to interact with colleagues, pose questions to an experienced group of faculty, and review a case-study for more in-depth learning.
