What’s Happening in Student Financial Services?

Overview

NACUBO’s Student Financial Services Benchmarking Study is in its eighth year. Study findings will be presented alongside the recently released 2016 Student Financial Services (SFS) Policies and Procedures results.
  
The recent SFS Policies and Procedures report illuminates a wide range of college and university financial service issues. The information collected provides a window of insight into the activities, systems, and practices from institutions across the country.
  
Presenters will offer a review of student payment channels (i.e. third-party payments), collections tactics, and financial literacy programs, as well as many other facets of the student financial services framework. These results often aid decision makers within academic institutions in shaping business practices that more effectively meet the needs of schools and students alike.

Note: This session was presented at the 2017 Student Financial Services Conference in Las Vegas. Attendees of the program will have complimentary access.

What You Will Learn

After participating in this program, you will learn to:

  • Recognize student financial services benchmarking trends, including unpaid balances and collections, student payment channels and methods, credit balance refunds, third party payments, and SFS staffing.
  • Review policies and procedures in student financial services related to the practices of collections and write-offs, use of credit cards for tuition and fee payments, processing third-party claims, and other student financial services practices.
  • Understand the relationships among student financial services benchmarking data, policies and procedures, and individual campus contexts.
