Overview

Understanding, planning, and guiding the change process is a core responsibility of higher education leaders, but old habits are sometimes hard to change and never more so than in the workplace. In this teaching/learning self-study course, Brent Ruben offers a systematic plan for introducing organizational change in your organization.

Understanding how change evolves—and the challenges that confront leaders at each juncture—is key to orchestrating a successful organizational change. From capturing attention and making the case for change to building support for the change once it is implemented, the process is rife with potential pitfalls. Using case examples, such as the Spellings Commission, Ruben illustrates the dynamics of planned change and the importance of the human element in the change process.

Participants use these real life examples as a starting point for discussion of change experiences in their own organization, as Ruben walks participants through the 5 critical steps to effective organizational change and the factors that can ensure its success.
