OD: Understanding the Results of the 2013 NACUBO-Commonfund Study of Endowments and a Look to 2014 and Beyond

Recorded on: Tuesday, February 18, 2014 1:00 PM ET

Overview

The NACUBO-Commonfund Study of Endowments (NCSE) examines the many challenges college and university endowment managers have faced including:  market volatility and unpredictability; economic uncertainty in the U.S., Europe, and Asia; declines in financial support from governments and donors; increasing pressures to increase endowment spending to make up for declines in other revenue sources; and increased scrutiny from policy makers and others regarding the effective stewardship of investment funds.

Endowment professionals will continue to face many of these same challenges for the foreseeable future. What can managers do now to meet these challenges? And, more importantly, how can they position themselves to take advantage of any new opportunities that may rise from these challenges?
