OD: Decoding ED's Cash Management Proposal

Recorded on Thursday, June 11, 2015 1:30 PM ET

Overview

How might proposed changes to the Department of Education’s cash management rules affect your institution? Colleges and universities that will feel the most impact are those that:
  • partner with financial institutions to offer bank accounts to students
  • use a servicer to help disburse credit balances to students
For both types of arrangements, the proposal would impose:
  • requirements on how your students are asked to choose how they would like to receive refunds
  • disclosures both to students and the public
  • due diligence to ensure student interests are well served
Additional restrictions would apply for accounts offered through third-party servicers, including limitations on bank fees.

The opportunity for public comment is short – this free session will help you learn what you need to know to weigh in before the July 2 deadline.  This session is offered in partnership with National Association of Campus Card Users (NACCU)The program is complimentary but registration is required.
