Budget Deal:

    FY19 Appropriations

    HEA Reauthorization

    Perkins Loans

    Borrower Defense

    • Over the past two months, proposals were discussed as a rulemaking panel worked on a rewrite of the "borrower defense to repayment" rules. Negotiators, including NACUBO's Director of Accounting Policy Sue Menditto, also revisited financial responsibility regulations. The group did not reach full consensus; there was, however, some agreement on the work of the financial responsibility subcommittee. The Department of Education will now draft proposed rules.
