Leadership Lessons from the Merger Front

Thursday, January 11, 2018 1:00 PM ET

Overview

Using the successful merger of the Berklee College of Music and The Boston Conservatory as a case study, a CBO, an investment banker with credit rating experience, and an attorney will share how they planned and implemented a successful merger between two non-profit colleges. Learn how the institutions explored and assessed the full spectrum of possible alliances, from shared facilities or services to a full asset merger. Hear how leaders harmonized strategic visions and developed a new vision and strategic plan for the combined entity. Lessons learned around governance issues, credit market impacts, and unforeseen “bumps in the road” will be shared.

  • Understand how to apply best practices in planning and executing a merger of non-profit colleges and universities.
