Congress has passed another stop-gap budget measure to allow the federal government to operate into the new year, leaving final FY17 student aid and other budget decisions to be determined by the incoming administration.

Labor Department Appeals Overtime Ruling

The Department of Labor (DOL) has appealed the November 23 ruling blocking implementation of the overtime pay regulations that were scheduled to take effect December 1. The DOL rule would elevate the overtime salary threshold from $23,660 to $47,476, and it would automatically increase every three years.
