IRS Reminder: Renew Expiring ITINs Now

With two months remaining in 2017, the Internal Revenue Service is encouraging taxpayers with expiring Individual Tax Identification Numbers (ITINs) to renew them now. This will help to avoid delays and reduce unnecessary burden during the filing season at the end of this year. 
Colleges and universities should share the following helpful information with affected individuals on campus:

ITINs will expire at the end of the year if they have not been used on a federal income tax return at least once in the last three consecutive tax years or if they contain middle digits 70, 71, 72, or 80. ITINs that expired last year with middle digits 78 and 79 can also be renewed. All updated information is on
