December Workshop on Bond Compliance Issues

August 25, 2015

In collaboration with NACUBO, the Treasury Institute for Higher Education is facilitating its fourth Tax Exempt Bond Compliance Workshop. This year's event is being held December 7-9 in Orlando and is geared toward university staff with bond compliance responsibilities. In an interactive setting, participants will learn best practices and develop successful strategies for tax exempt bond compliance.

An optional one-day Pre-Workshop Primer offers first-time attendees and those in need of a refresher an opportunity to become familiar with  the terms, concepts, and vocabulary of tax exempt bond compliance. The primer program will include a review of the basic components of calculating private business use and how to develop a tax exempt bond compliance policy for your institution.

The two-day workshop will enable attendees to:

  • Identify, track, and calculate private business use.
  • Understand spend down analysis.
  • Discover ways to take remedial action for compliance.
  • Learn the rules related to advance refunding.
  • Brush up on reimbursement and accounting methods related to bonds.
  • Communicate with campus colleagues that play keys role in bond compliance.

Each day of the workshop will wrap up with an idea exchange and open debriefing to facilitate networking and the sharing of best practices, ideas, and solutions.
