2015-16 Key Facilities Metrics Survey Results Now Available

April 28, 2017

Results are in for the 2015-16 APPA/NACUBO Key Facilities Metrics Survey. This year, 329 campuses across all regions and institution types participated—a 49 percent increase from the first survey in 2013-14.

The survey is conducted to help campus leaders understand their own consumption facts, as it is crucial to know basic facilities data to improve strategic planning. This survey captures BTU (energy), electrical, water, waste (recycle and garbage), and carbon.

Each consumption factor is unique, and evaluation of the data should be done with the ratios that best fit an institution’s mission and applicable analysis—whether by region, square footage, or student count.

Median results are available on the NACUBO website. For full results, log in to Navigate to "myResearch" and click on the "2015-16 APPA/NACUBO Key Facilities Metrics Report."

This will take you to a description of the survey and then you can "Launch Dashboards" in a variety of reports. If you did not participate, you can still review general region and institutional type ranges.

Campuses should evaluate their own numbers every year for improvement, so please consider participating in the next survey, which will open in August.
