American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment

More than 650 college and university presidents have signed the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). This pledge commits their institutions to neutralizing greenhouse gas emissions and accelerating higher education's research and educational efforts to equip society to re-stabilize the earth's climate.

  • Program Overview -- More details on the initiative, including a timeline and goals
  • Implementation Guide -- The 'handbook' of the ACUPCC, providing more detail on the specific obligations in the Commitment, explaining technical issues related to implementation, and outlining key policies.
  • Leading Profound Change -- Written by the ACUPCC Steering Committee, and released in August 2009, this 13 page document encourages presidents and campus leaders to treat sustainability as a major transformative initiative employing all the leadership skills of a major institutional change.

This February 27, 2008 webcast, showcased three CFOs and a facilities director who provided an overview of the Commitment, discussed strategies for achieving climate neutral campuses, and suggested financing approaches for implementation.
