A Wealth of NACUBO Resources

May 8, 2017

Pick your preferred mode: You can read, listen to, or attend in person a variety of NACUBO content focused on strategic HR concerns.

Check out the newly launched website for Business Officer magazine, which routinely features interviews with higher education thought leaders and HR topics of importance to chief business officers, including leadership development, talent acquisition, and succession and retirement planning. Readers can access the monthly magazine online from the device of their choice: smartphone, tablet, or desktop. Or to find topics of interest, peruse the magazine’s annual archives

You can also browse timely legislative and regulatory updates in Current or get the latest HR-specific news from NACUBO’s HR Business and Policy Area webpage, which also includes access to archives of HR Horizons and issue-specific resources like NACUBO’s FLSA Resource Page

NACUBO routinely hosts webcasts on a variety of topics that can be accessed on-demand following the live broadcast.

Another popular venue for HR and leadership content is a growing archive of NACUBO podcasts. You can stream or download segments from two series:

  • CBO Speaks provides one-on-one interviews with thought leaders and experts exploring the role of the chief business officer.
  • NACUBO In Brief offers insights from experts and industry leaders regarding best practices and solutions to questions germane to higher education leadership. Among the don’t-miss conversations in the lineup is Episode 11: Sustainable Performance Improvement at UC Irvine, in which Wendell Brase, former vice chancellor of administration and business services, discusses development of the UCI management and leadership performance assessment model. This set of 31 management and leadership variables measures performance and guides effective management behavior. This initiative uncovered correlational indicators behind behavioral attributes that can predict performance success over time.

It’s not too late to register to attend the NACUBO 2017 Annual Meeting, July 29 to August 1, 2017, in Minneapolis.

Among the general session speakers is Michele Norris, former National Public Radio host of “All Things Considered” and author of The Grace of Silence: A Memoir, which focuses on how America talks about race. Using her memoir as a catalyst for conversation, Norris has addressed thousands of students through campus One Book programs, encouraging discussions about the history of race relations in the United States.

Concurrent session programming at the meeting includes tracks in Implementing and Leading Change and Investing in Human Capital.
