On-Demand Webcasts Now Available

NACUBO continues to provide distance learning opportunities that enhance education through webcasts on a variety of topics. If you missed any of the distance learning events in January and February, you now have the opportunity to watch them online.

The following webcasts are currently available:

  • The ROI of Student Success: Practical Considerations for Measuring and Conveying the Financial Value of Student Support Services, which originally aired on January 12, assessed the value of garnering support for effective student success initiatives.
  • Originally airing on February 2, NACUBO Live! Results of the 2016 NACUBO-Commonfund Study of Endowments, provided results of the annual study, and panelists looked back at the challenges that endowment managers faced in FY16.
  • The joint webcast Compliance Challenges for the New EPA Hazardous Waste Rule, held in conjunction with the Campus Safety Health and Environmental Management Association, aired on February 7. It focused on the Environmental Protection Agency's hazardous waste generator rule, which will impact virtually all colleges and universities.
  • Airing on February 9, the Legislative Lunchcast—A 30-Minute Washington Update, examined the current state of affairs for higher education under the Trump administration.

Register for the 2017 Higher Education Accounting Forum

The Higher Education Accounting Forum (HEAF), designed for advanced-level accounting and finance professionals, will be held May 7–9 in Austin, Texas, at the Hyatt Regency Austin. The forum will offer the latest information on trends and best practices in financial accounting and reporting, managerial analysis, and leadership issues for all types of institutions.

The HEAF program will feature plenary speakers as well as smaller sessions to address special topics. Attendees can expect to (1) learn how to demonstrate awareness of preferred industry practices, (2) recognize how new and proposed accounting standards will impact the business office, and (3) collect insights about tax and federal legislative issues and changes on the horizon.

This year's general session topics address cybersecurity, financial sustainability, leadership, endowments, communication, and risk management. Concurrent sessions tackle FASB and GASB updates and implementation, cloud migration, business analytics, effective financial communication, athletics, financial health, and more. During facilitated roundtable exchanges—broken out by managerial and technical topics of interest—participants can ask questions and exchange ideas. In addition, there will be opportunities for networking with colleagues during breakouts and the opening night reception.

Register Now for the Annual Meeting

Registration is now open for the NACUBO 2017 Annual Meeting, taking place at the Minneapolis Conference Center, from July 29 to August 1. Built around the theme "Currents of Collaboration," this meeting will focus on the power of higher education and the role of the chief business officer in navigating connections and steering diverse teams toward a shared vision for the future.

The much-anticipated yearly event will give attendees the opportunity to learn about the most important issues affecting the business office, initiate impactful discussions, share strategies on ways to navigate various institutional challenges, and network with colleagues in the industry.
