Insights From College Board on How Families Pay College ExpensesIn 2012-13, grants from all sources and education tax benefits covered 36 percent of the total cost of attendance for full-time undergraduates, according to a new analysis of higher education pricing and financing trends from the College Board. Student loans accounted for 26 percent of total charges, while parents’ and students’ other resources, such as employment earnings and savings, covered the remaining 38 percent of postsecondary expenses.

The Joint Committee on Taxation issued a report analyzing a series of state and local tax issues, focusing on federal tax-exempt bond provisions.
