2010 College Day at Hill-Hope Elementary School

In December 2009 one of NACUBO's business partners, Heery International, asked for assistance with a project to benefit Hill-Hope Elementary School in Atlanta, GA. The goal of this project was to plant the dream of higher education in these deserving students. Each college or university would donate two school t-shirts along with a sheet of paper listing three factors that make their institution uniquely attractive to these young people. NACUBO, with support from Follett Higher Education Group and Thompson Hospitality, asked its members to participate. Over 100 colleges responded, several with a dozen shirts or more!

Agency Description: Hill-Hope Elementary School believes that every student has the potential to succeed and is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of their students by encouraging them to open their minds to learning, discovery and achievement. The school is located in the Sweet Auburn District of Atlanta. The neighborhood is home of Ebenezer Baptist Church where Martin Luther King delivered sermons and rallied the world for equality for all. The school has approximately 400 students in kindergarten through fifth grades. Ninety-five percent of the student population is African-American and five percent Hispanic. >> Visit school website
